Harry Potter turns 11

Jacobs birthday was so fun to plan. He really wanted to use the Harry Potter theme because he's been breezing through the HP books and loves them. We also wanted to heat up the pool and have a pool party - so we did both. The boys swam while we barbecued. When they were done eating we had an amazing game of quidditch with brooms from the dollar store - this seriously was the hit of the party!
Jacob is such a funny kid.....he almost always wakes up first in the family.   We have the birthday tradition of singing to the birthday person early, hopefully waking them up.  Well we gathered all the other kids and tip toed into Jacobs room.  Just before we started singing he popped up and said "Finally.....I've been waiting for you guys...."  It was so funny......  What a great day Jacob!

Fall Farm

We love going to the Stehli Family Farm in St. George, Utah right before Halloween. We walked around the corn maze and tried to find our way out. Sam tried to scare us by hiding in the corn stalks and randomly popping out - awkward!  The kids played games around the farm, while we waited in line for the Haunted house.  Kami and I drank hot coco.  It was kinda freezing.  Sam and the boys talked Baili into going with them through the Haunted House this year,  so Kami and I went a bought a baby pumpkin and some treats for when the others got done.
This is a great fall tradition that we love.

Pictures from West Yellowstone

Buffalo

The highlight of visiting Yellowstone for us has to be the buffalo. They are amazingly huge creatures, yet they "seem" pretty docile. They told us at the gate not to get too close to them because they can charge.....and lets just say that would not be good. They are over 2000lbs each. It didn't take long for us to come across our first one and we were all in AWE. The kids were amazed and Nana wanted to get out and get a picture right away. It was her first time to the park. Ummm, she didn't really heed the 25ft warning the park worker gave us....She & Ryan were so close to the buffalo that people in their cars were telling me that she should move. Ah well, we got a great picture and Nana wasn't eaten by the buffalo so were all good. The week after we got home from our trip we heard that a buffalo charged a little boy....the boy was safe but the video on YouTube was pretty scary eeeek! When we were leaving the park we saw the buffalo in the last picture, literally on the side of the road, he was HUGE.  He started moving a bit and you could see how ginormous these animals are, every part of his body took effort to move.  They are truly amazing animals.

Floating down the Snake River - Idaho

Our friends told us about a floating trip on the Snake River in Island Park close to Yellowstone National Park.  So after we left Oakley we took Nana with us to Montana & had a blast.  I thought I would wet my pants trying to get in the boat and trying not to fall over.  Sam was trying to have everything under control, but we were drifting away with half of Nana, one of her legs still on the dock....... all I could do was laugh, which made Sam even more frustrated and made me laugh harder. We are such city folk when it comes to stuff like this.  Half of us had flip flops on and the other half, the boys, had brand new hi tops...eeek!
We saw two huge MOOSE walk right across the water in front of us and big fish swimming in the river.  It was truly beautiful up there, we had perfect weather even if the the water was freeeezing.  A couple of times we had to get out and push the boat off the pebbles where it was shallow and I thought I would never feel my feet again.  It took us about 3 hours to float (and row) back to base.
What great memories though!

Layla's Blessing - Idaho

For Trudi & Tyler's 2nd Baby Layla, we had a mini impromptu family reunion. We missed Beverley, Lewis & Scott but everyone else was able to make it up to Oakley for Laylas blessing.  It was so nice to be together.  The kids played outside, we hung out and we ATE - a lot!!!  Here's the pictures from the weekend.

Baili's Fall Orchestra Performance

Baili has become a really good cello player. She only started learning in middle school last year and this year tested for Advanced Orchestra.  She is dedicated and takes home her instrument quite often from school to practice.  I think because she already plays piano, she can learn the second instrument a little easier.  She loves music and is very talented.  Here's some pictures of her after the performance with her best friends who play violin in the orchestra
