At the end of last year Jacob was having a lot of severe stomach problems so we went to see what was going on. The doctor ordered blood work and after it came back diagnosed Jacob with Lactose intolerance and possible Gluten Intolerance. We changed his diet and he began to improve but after a month or so he was still having stomach pains. We went back to the doctor where they ordered him to have two procedures to look at the inside of his intestines. Here are pictures from the day of his surgery. He was amazingly brave, even though he was nervous. He had a lot of questions for the doctor and the anesthesiologist. Everyone in the pre-op mentioned how smart he was....lol he might have been showing off. After the procedure the doctor came out to show me some of the images they had taken. He confirmed he has Cecliac Disease (Gluten Intolerance) but also shocked me stating that Jacob has a mild case of Crohns Disease or Inflamatory Bowl Disease. I was really worried initially until he explained that he would prescribe him a daily medication that should coat his intestine and heal the sores that were already there. After a few months his symptoms should go away. This autoimmune disorder is lifelong and will require him not to eat wheat or flour products.
Jacob was really funny coming out of the anesthetic but he felt good once he was home and got some rest. Were really proud of how well he took the news and how he has adopted his new diet and lifestyle. Hes a trooper.
