Dont want to forget.....

90% of the reason I blog is so I don't forget the memories that we make as a family and the good times we have with our kids and others. I love being able to quickly type something that happened and have it saved forever. I actually have published my blog from the first post to the end of 2009 and love how it turned out. Blogging is a great way to keep friends and family updated on whats going on but for me (whose brain in like a sieve) it's the best way to remember the cute things my children do and all the important stuff that happens on a week to week basis.

For all of Ryan's crazy ways, he is one sensitive and loving kid. He often will give up something (even candy) for someone else to have it and is a very caring boy. This week our Primary took the children from the ward to the Temple for an activity. Lots of planning went into it, they even fed them dinner. Ryan was aware of the work that his leaders did so he asked if we could bake cookies for them to say thank you. He helped make the cookies and make little bags and thank you notes to give to his Primary leaders. He is such a sweet kid!
I love hearing the kids talk to each other when we're in the car driving, which is a good 70% of our time....lol! Kami and her little preschool friends are hilarious. Kami's favorite song is "Party in the USA" and I'm pretty much sick of it! Her friends one day were all talking about how their birthday party was going to be "in the USA this year"....haha

Ryan was talking the other day about how life is unfair for kids and they have to do so much work - eh what home is he talking about because our chore chart is still empty - no stickers yet? I've heard him use the phrase "way back then" for when Sam and I were kids......it's really not that long ago but that's how he refers to it. So the other day as he was arguing with me about his life being full of hardship he said...."way back then, you used to play video games (hadn't been invented), ordered dinner (didn't have the money) and did no chores (have you met NANA?)
Let me set the record straight.....although we had fun times as kids, playing with the neighbors in our little cul de sac on Lealand Crescent and playing with each other in the house, WE WORKED! At the time I hated it, well not really hate - disliked it, but now I'm so grateful that I learned to work and work hard. It's payed of in so many ways....so get ready kids....WAY BACK THEN is making a comeback!

So I was listening to Kami talking with someone in the van the other day and I heard...."My fwend, sea punched him in the nuts" Ummmm????
I asked her what she was talking about and she explained that a little girl was mad at a little boy in her class and so "sea (she - her fwend ) punched the boy in the nuts" Alrighty then!

Later she told me that "Ms Shewee (sheree) was in her class today and she wasn't stressed"
haha - this was funny because a few weeks ago, Ms Sheree was substituting for Kami's regular teacher, Ms Jackie. Kami said that Sheree was yelling at the kids because they weren't being good and later Ms. Sheree told them she was just stressed! haha I guess the 2nd time was a charm and the kids knew not to "stress" Ms. Sheree out....lol!

Time to smell the roses!

Take Time to Smell the Roses.....yeah yeah yeah....I've heard it all my life. It just doesn't seem like it's ever going to happen. There's just not enough hours in the day to do everything on the list. I know it's important to take a "time-out" and that's why I go to the gym but everything is still waiting when I get out of there and smelling the roses is not on my list of things to do!

Well this is what caught my eye minutes ago as I drove into the garage.

My beautiful roses are truly BEAUTIFUL. To look at them makes happy.....things actually do grow in the desert! Almost every time I look at them it brings me back to my childhood and our little backyard in Clondalkin, Dublin. We had rose bushes on almost every wall. I remember as a kid playing out there, picking the flowers and the nasty earwigs that we used to find in the roses once in a while....gross! Anyway back to pleasantries....something about roses takes me back to that backyard and good memories.

So on to current memories......here's some pictures of what we've been up to lately...........

THE MAKING OF THE 1st BAINNY BUNCH PINEWOOD DERBY CAR

2nd ANNUAL DONATION OF POP TABS TO THE RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE
RYAN's AWARDED FOR GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP

MOTHERS DAY TEA (ahem lemonade) PARTY AT KAMI's PRESCHOOL

RIDING AROUND THE STREET WITH FRIENDS ON BIKES & JEEPS

WISHING WE HAD LONGER HAIR

I think I'm realizing that the little things in life are actually the roses that we need to smell. Just enjoying your kids and your chores and living every moment to the fullest that you can. Enjoy each little moment you share with loved ones because for me, already they are passing so fast!
