Saving Mount Charleston

We had a crazy fire on Mount Charleston this summer.  It was pretty scary to watch the sky fill up every day and into the night with fire and smoke.  The fire fighters were having a hard time containing it and evacuated people from their homes down to Bilbray Elementary School.  People were posting beautiful pictures of the sky at night as the sun set with the smoke and the orange colored sky but the reality was the mountain was on fire and they could not contain it for almost a week.
Ryans cub scout den decided they wanted to help so for one of their den meetings they gathered up some water, granola bars and other supplies and brought them to the high school where the city was collecting donations for the fire fighters.  Just last month 19 fire fighters died in Arizona while fighting a fire out there, so we are grateful to these men and women that risk their lives to protect ours.
The rain finally came and helped the situation.  They got the fire contained.  Looks like the young women will still be going to camp stimpson for stake girls camp.
